Builder's Guide To Mitigating Aircraft Noise in New Residential Construction

Purpose

The Builders Guide to Mitigating Aircraft Noise in New Residential Construction was developed in 2006 to provide builders, developers, architects, and building inspectors with information to help comply with the Land-use Compatibility Guidelines for Aircraft Noise. The guide specifically addresses the noise reduction performance of structures in areas exposed to aircraft noise as defined in the Transportation Policy Plan.

The guidelines and model noise attenuation ordinance are used by the Council in its review of communities' comprehensive plans and plan amendments. The Guide is also intended to provide better understanding of the issues and problems encountered in complying with the guidelines and designing to reduce aircraft noise.
