Draft EIS

Bottineau Transitway Draft Environmental Impact Statement

The information on this page is for the METRO Blue Line Extension project's prior alignment. The original documentation was completed prior to August 2020. The new recommended route now requires additional environmental documentation.

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process includes the preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS or DEIS), which must be made available to the public for review and comment. The Draft EIS is also distributed to public agencies for review and comment.

The Draft EIS describes and discusses:

  1. The purpose and need for the project;
  2. The alternatives considered;
  3. The impacts of those alternatives; and
  4. The agencies and persons consulted.

Note: The DEIS is a large document that has been divided into several files in PDF format, which you can read using Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF reader software. It may take several minutes to download the larger chapters, depending on your internet connection speed.

Technical reports referenced in the DEIS are available on the Environmental Technical Reports page

Comments on the Draft EIS

The Bottineau Transitway Draft EIS was available for public review and comment from April 11 through May 29, 2014. During this time, Hennepin County hosted four public hearings/open houses along the proposed transitway corridor. These events provided opportunities to review findings from the Draft EIS, to ask questions of Project staff, and to offer verbal testimony regarding the Bottineau Transitway Draft EIS. Comments were also received by mail and email. Individuals, organizations and public agencies provided comments on the Draft EIS.
