How to join us

Applying for open positions

We accept applications for currently open positions OR for a candidate pool/eligibility list for future openings, if specified on the Notice of Job Opening (job posting). A separate application form is required for each position you are applying for.

To apply, you must submit a completed Metropolitan Council Employment Application form and, if required, supplemental application materials as described in the job posting.

Instructions are included with each job posting. Each posting also includes phone and fax numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses.

Complete the application form as thoroughly as possible. DO NOT mark “see résumé” on your application. Résumés may be included as an attachment but will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application form or supplemental application form.

Check the Notice of Job Opening to determine whether you need to also complete a Safety History Release Authorization form and/or a Consumer Report Release Authorization form.

Do not send your resume and/or cover letter without the required Employment Application. To be considered, an Employment Application form must be submitted.

Application Deadline

Applicants must deliver via email, fax, U.S. mail, or hand-deliver their employment application and resume to the Human Resources Department by the deadline date and time listed on the Notice of Job Opening. Email is the preferred and most efficient method of delivering your application.

Refer to the Notice of Job Opening for the email address, fax number, or mailing address.

Drug-Free Work Place

We are committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace. If you are offered a position with the Council, you will need to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, a drug test for all positions and a physical examination for certain positions.

Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer

We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Our policy is to provide equal employment opportunities to all. We do not discriminate against any applicant or employee.

Reasonable Accommodation to Persons with Disabilities

Upon request, we will provide you with application materials in alternative formats. Please refer to the Notice of Job Opening for contact information. People with a hearing impairment can call (TTY) 651-291-0904.
