Council and Transportation Advisory Board hold meetings to allocate federal stimulus dollars
ST. PAUL—Feb. 24, 2009--The Metropolitan Council and its Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) will meet over the next month to consider metro-area transportation projects for federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
For projects to qualify for federal stimulus funds, the Council and TAB need to include or amend them into the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). To act quickly and meet federal timelines, the Council and TAB will determine which road and highway projects can be fast tracked. The TAB and Council will vote in March on projects to include in the TIP.
Road and highway projects that will be included in the TIP at this time are Minnesota Department of Transportation projects totaling about $100 million.
All meetings are open to the public.
