On February 20, 2008, the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) took action to select projects to receive federal funds through the 2007 regional solicitation.
A total of 133 applications in the Surface Transportation Program-Urban Guarantee (STP), Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Program (CMAQ), the Transportation Enhancement Program (TE) and the Bridge Improvement Replacement (BIR) program met the qualifying criteria and were evaluated by teams of transportation professionals from around the region. The regional solicitation is a very competitive process and the TAB exhausted all available federal funds after selecting 44 projects in these four categories.
MN/DOT also solicited for projects in the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and Railroad Highway Crossing Safety Program (RRX) categories, evaluated the proposals and presented a ranked list of projects to the TAB. Based on the funds available in these categories, the TAB selected 11 HSIP projects and 13 RRX projects to receive funding.

The selected projects and programs will be programmed for construction or implementation in 2011 and 2012 as part of the region’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for 2009-2012. The 2009–2012 TIP will be drafted in March 2008 and adopted by the TAB in September 2008. Notification of applicants “to proceed” by MnDOT State Aid is anticipated to occur in November or December of 2008. However, applicants are encouraged to contact State Aid to begin project development as soon as they are ready to do so.
