Council Member Appointment Process

Governor Tim Walz will appoint a new member to the Metropolitan Council to replace outgoing Council Member Lynnea Atlas-Ingebretson. She represented Met Council District 6, serving Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, St. Louis Park, and a portion of Minneapolis.

The Governor and Lieutenant Governor appointed a nominating committee to hear from the applicants and take public testimony. Once the Governor has chosen a replacement, he will notify the Minnesota Senate of his intention to appoint a Council Member to serve District 6.

Finalists

The Metropolitan Council Nominating Committee has forwarded the names of three finalists for the open position for District 6 Council member to Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for consideration.
