Council Member Appointment Process

The Minnesota Legislature completed the statutory requirement to redraw Metropolitan Council districts as part of the 2023 legislative session. As a result of these new district boundaries, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced the appointments to the Met Council’s 16 districts on June 27, 2023. 

All terms are effective July 3, 2023 and expire January 4, 2027.
