Council Member Appointment Process

Metropolitan Council member openings were posted in November and applications to serve on the Metropolitan Council were accepted through Dec. 9. The Nominating Committee completed their public hearings on Jan. 31 

Applicant interviews

A nominating committee hosted public meetings to accept statements from, or on behalf of, applicants for the positions. Applicants selected to be interviewed testified at one of four public meetings. The meetings were open to the public and can be streamed online.

Nominating committee

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan named a 15-member nominating committee, which recommends candidates for the Metropolitan Council to the Governor. The Council Chair serves as a non-voting member of the nominating committee. Members:
