Metropolitan Council Member District 10
Marie McCarthy was appointed to the Metropolitan Council by Gov. Mark Dayton in December 2013 and reappointed in 2015. McCarthy lives in Blaine, and represents District 10, which includes Arden Hills, Blaine, Circle Pines, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Lexington, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview, and Spring Lake Park.
McCarthy is Legislative Assistant, Minnesota Senate. She's experienced in working with municipal governments, advocacy groups and the public. She has a background in community organizing, consulting and training.
McCarthy served 7 years on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Twin Cities Area Chapter (which currently serves over 4.3 million people in 45 counties), and on the Community Service Outreach board.
On the Metropolitan Council, McCarthy serves on the Audit, Environment and Transportation Committees.
Her community service also included fundraising for the United Way and Habitat for Humanity, as well as volunteering for humanitarian efforts in Africa.

McCarthy has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California San Diego. She lives in Blaine with her husband Bill.
