About the Bassett Creek Stormwater Tunnel
The Bassett Creek stormwater tunnel is more than 100 years old and is structurally deficient. The stormwater tunnel’s current location conflicts with the planned Van White Boulevard light rail station, part of the METRO Blue Line Extension project. Replacing the old stormwater tunnel will expedite major construction of the Blue Line Extension, which will begin in 2019.
