Title Lakes Simulated in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area Groundwater-Flow Model V3
Abstract This dataset contains polygons of lakes simulated in the Twin Cities metropolitan area groundwater flow model version 3.

Currently this model is underdevelopment and changes are expected to be made to this dataset as the model is finalized.
Purpose This dataset was developed to be used to build a regional groundwater flow model for the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area
Time Period of Content Date 03/26/2014
Currentness Reference This data reflects data based on model calibration completed in 2013.

Section 2 Data Quality
Attribute Accuracy There are no known deficiencies
Logical Consistency There are no known deficiencies
Completeness This data reflects data based on model calibration completed in 2013.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Horizontal position accuracy is estimated to be +/- 100 meters.
Vertical Positional Accuracy The vertical position accuracy is estimated to be +/- 5 meters.

The elevation listed in the attributes 'Model_Stag' reflects data from a 10m digital elevation model.
Lineage Datasets of land use developed for a regional recharge model were used to define the lakes to include in this dataset. Land use data included data from the Metropolitan Council and the USGS 2006 National Land Cover Database (NLCD). All open water bodies in that dataset are included here. The data for the recharge model was sampled to a 90m x 90 m grid. That resolution is preserved in this dataset, hence the jagged edges to many of the features. This was done to maintain a more robust connection between the recharge model and the groundwater flow model.

Section 4 Coordinate System
Horizontal Coordinate Scheme Universal Transverse Mercator
UTM Zone Number 15
Horizontal Datum NAD83
Horizontal Units meters

Section 5 Attributes
Overview Model_Stag: The stage of the open water body. All values are in meters. Stage values were determined using a 10 m NED elevation model. The minimum value from the 10 m NED elevation model within the area of the water body was set as the stage.

Kz_aw: Area weighted vertical hydraulic conductivity of all river boundary cells that intersect the polygon.

Kz_mode: Mode of vertical hydraulic conductivity of all river boundary cells that intersect the polygon

Bottom: Bottom elevation of feature. All values set as Model_Stag - 1m. Values are in meters.

Thick: Thickness of bed sediments used to calculate conductance. For simplicity, all values set at 1m.
