This project completed improvements to nearly 1,570 feet of the regional sanitary sewer and sewer structures located in the city of Golden Valley between June 2018 and October 2019.
This project completed improvements at three different sites in Golden Valley and work included: rehabilitating select maintenance holes, lining existing pipe using a process called cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), and excavating old sewer pipe and replace it with new pipe (open excavation). This work was necessary to avoid future collapse that could result in a loss of sewer service, environmental impacts, and public health and safety.
For more information, see the descriptions below of the three project site locations and view the project maps.
The sewer serves homes and businesses in Golden Valley and transports wastewater to the Metropolitan Wastewater Treatment Plant in Saint Paul. The sewer and treatment plant are part of the large metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system operated by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services.
Project Update - August 13, 2019 (PDF)
Site 1: Natchez Avenue - Map (PDF): Construction at this location improved approximately 650-feet of regional sanitary sewer near Natchez Park. Crews replaced a special odor control structure near the intersection of Natchez Avenue and Roanoke Road and lined (CIPP) the existing pipe along Natchez Avenue between Roanoke Road and Loring Lane.
Site 2: Toledo Avenue and Greenview Lane - Map (PDF): Construction at this location improved approximately 800-feet of regional sanitary sewer near Toledo Avenue and Greenview Lane. Some sections of pipe were lined (CIPP) and other sections were removed and replaced with new pipe (open excavation).
Site 3: Hidden Lakes - Map (PDF): Construction at this location improved approximately 120 feet of regional sanitary sewer that crosses under Hidden Lakes Parkway near the intersection of Golden Valley Road. A new pipe was tunneled under the road with an open excavation on both sides of Hidden Lakes Parkway.
