Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, will be replacing regional sanitary sewer pipe along Westedge Boulevard/County Road 44 between approximately Setter Circle (north of County Road 110) and Highway 7, through the cities of Mound and Minnetrista.
The original pipe was installed in 1973 and is reaching the end of its service life. The risk of pipe failure will increase as the pipe nears the end of its service life, which could greatly impact the Lake Minnetonka area. MCES will be surveying and completing the project design in 2017. Construction to replace the approximately 15,400 feet of pipe began in spring 2018; major construction activities are expected to be completed in December 2019 and final restoration completed in 2020.
