Twin Cities income inequality compared to peer regions

Date: Wednesday, March 7, 2018

The third in a three-part MetroStats series on income inequality is now available.  This final report compares income inequality in the Twin Cities 16-county metro to 11 peer regions and concludes that income inequality in the region is comparatively low, but growing fast. Left unaddressed, growing income inequality has the potential to undermine the region's future economic competitiveness and prosperity.

Findings of all three reports, with video animations and links to all the reports, show income inequality has increased in the region and varies by race and ethnicity.
