Contracts & Procurement

Reduced timeline from bid submission to contract execution

We heard again and again from contractors and targeted vendors that “it takes too long” to go through our contract process. We listened. We know time is critical for many businesses and you are selective about where you choose to bid, so we took a step back and made the whole process more efficient, saving time and costs.

In fall 2022, the Met Council approved a policy change to increase the signature authority threshold for construction and design-build contracts from $2.5 million to $10 million. This adjustment allows our team and you, our contractors, to move more quickly from when you submit your bid to when the contract is executed.

We are excited to work with you, and we are committed to doing our part to continuously improve our processes and our service.

The Metropolitan Council provides essential services and infrastructure to Metro Transit's bus and rail system, wastewater treatment services, regional parks, planning, and affordable housing to the region. Read our mission, vision, and values statement (PDF).
