Finalists announced for open Met Council District 3 seat

The Metropolitan Council Nominating Committee has forwarded the names of four finalists for the open position for District 3 Council member to Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for consideration.

District 3 includes Chanhassen, Deephaven, Eden Prairie, Excelsior, Greenwood, Long Lake, Minnetonka, Minnetonka Beach, Minnetrista, Mound, Orono, Shorewood, Spring Park, St. Bonifacius, Tonka Bay, Wayzata, and Woodland.

The individuals are listed alphabetically and in no priority order:

  • Dr. Tyronne Carter
  • Sherrie Pugh
  • James White
  • Kenneth Willcox

The nominating committee interviewed seven candidates for the position on April 7. View a recording of the interviews.

The nominating committee was appointed by the Governor and Lt. Governor to help fill the vacant position. The community members also served in this capacity to appoint the members for districts 1 to 16 in early 2019 and the recent vacancy in District 6.
