The METRO Blue Line Extension’s Project Decision Board has approved a design change to Lowry Avenue station based on stakeholder and community feedback. The decision to separate the grades of Theodore Wirth Parkway and Lowry Avenue from the light rail infrastructure is the result of community feedback, input from the cities of Minneapolis and Robbinsdale, the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, and North Memorial Hospital.
Currently, the new concept for the Lowry Avenue station is in preliminary design stage and will be analyzed in the Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement this summer. The project office will be engaging nearby neighbors, businesses, and agency partners and stakeholders to ensure their input is considered as the design progresses. Design workshop meetings will be scheduled this Spring. Additional public meetings will be held to review the 60% design plans towards the end of 2025.
