PURPOSE & OUTCOMES

The purpose of this meeting is to review and build support for a 2018-2019 work plan and begin work.
Desired outcomes include:
  1. MAWSAC and TAC support proposed work areas,
  2. MAWSAC and TAC support the proposed 2018-2019 meeting schedule, and
  3. MAWSAC and TAC provide recommendations to strengthen proposed work plan.

1:10       BUSINESS

 

1.  2018/2019 Road Map – Lanya Ross and Ali Elhassan, Metropolitan Council (15 minutes)

Staff will share Metropolitan Council’s proposed water supply planning work areas and a proposed approach for MAWSAC and TAC to be involved in this work during 2018-2019.
 

2.  Lightning Round Presentations: Examples of Work Plan Projects (40 minutes)

Five short presentations will provide a few examples of specific projects that may be expected in the propose work areas, to inform group discussion. Approximately 10 minutes for questions will follow.
  • Water Supply Story Map – Lanya Ross, P.G., Metropolitan Council
  • Water Conservation Advisor Program – David Brown, P.E., Metropolitan Council
  • Summer Irrigation – Brian Davis, Ph.D., P.E., P.G., Metropolitan Council
  • Groundwater Modeling – Lanya Ross, P.G., Metropolitan Council
  • 2020-2021 Clean Water Fund Request – Ali Elhassan, Ph.D., P.E., Metropolitan Council

3.  Reflection – Committee Members (7 minutes)

Committee members will be asked to individually reflect on their reactions to the proposed work areas and approach to MAWSACA and TAC meetings. A worksheet and prompting questions will support this activity.
 

4.  BREAK (8 minutes)

 

5.  Small Group Discussion – Committee Members (25 minutes)

Members will meet in small groups to share perspectives about the proposed work areas and approach to MAWSACA and TAC meetings.
 

3:00       DRAFT RECOMMENDATIONS

Small groups will report out, followed by a full group discussion of recommendations to Metropolitan Council, TAC, MAWSAC or others regarding how to strengthen support for the road map.
 

3:30       PLAN FOR NEXT MEETING & HOMEWORK

The dates and topics of the next MAWSAC and TAC meetings will be shared and recommendations for speakers and supporting materials will be solicited.

Members should look for follow-up emails about action items.
