Nominating committee announces candidates for public interviews for Metropolitan Council District 6

Date: Monday, December 6, 2021

The Metropolitan Council Nominating Committee will interview eight candidates at a public meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9, for the open position for District 6 Council member. District 6 includes the cities of Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, St. Louis Park, and southwestern Minneapolis.

Those individuals (listed alphabetically and in no other priority order) are Alex Cecchini, Larry Fonnest, Michael Herring, Thomas Hoch, Anne Mavity, Anisha Murphy, Aiysha Mustapha, and John Pacheco, Jr.

Next steps

The nominating committee, which was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan to fill the vacancy, will recommend finalists to the governor for appointment. Once the Governor has chosen a replacement, he will notify the Minnesota Senate of his intention to appoint a Council Member to serve District 6.
