Finalists announced for open Met Council District 6 seat

The Metropolitan Council Nominating Committee has forwarded the names of three finalists for the open position for District 6 Council member to Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for consideration. District 6 includes the cities of Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, St. Louis Park, and the southwestern portions of Minneapolis.

Those individuals are (listed alphabetically and in no priority order) Anne Mavity, Aiysha Mustapha, and John Pacheco, Jr.

The nominating committee interviewed seven candidates for the position on Dec. 9. View a recording of the interviews.

The nominating committee was appointed by the Governor and Lt. Governor to help fill the vacant position. The community members also served in this capacity to appoint the members for districts 1 to 16 in early 2019.
