Jeff Moravec upgraded his irrigation system controller at his Brooklyn Park home last summer. When he compared the water bills of summer 2016 to the year before, he found his bill went down by 18 percent.
“The old one had a dial and if you set it and it was pouring down rain and it was set to go on, it would go on,” says Moravec. “I wanted to reduce my water bill and to control everything by phone.”
Moravec even got a rebate from the city of Brooklyn Park for his upgrade. The rebate was offered by a grant from the Metropolitan Council. The city is again offering water efficiency rebates.
