Project Description

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services is proposing to construct an odor management system (OMS) at 6100 County Road 101E in Shakopee. The new OMS will improve air quality in the area by addressing odor concerns from the wastewater collection system. The new OMS will also protect existing infrastructure by removing corrosive odors from the wastewater collection system and treating them before discharging to the environment.

Met Council proposes to power the OMS with ground-mounted solar panels that will be installed on the 6100 County Road 101E property. MCES proposes to protect trees on the site as identified in the tree inventory and install additional native vegetation on the site.

The City of Shakopee requires Met Council to rezone the property from B-1 to I-2 in order for the property to be consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan – Envision Shakopee 2040, which guides the property’s future use to be ‘industrial’.
