NOTICE: The Metropolitan Council Chair has determined it is not practical or prudent to conduct in-person meetings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, committee members will participate in this meeting via telephone or other electronic means and the meeting will be conducted under Minnesota Statutes section 13D.021 at the date and time stated above. We encourage you to monitor the meeting remotely. In accordance with a new law effective Aug. 1, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to provide public comment as part of our virtual meeting of the full Metropolitan Council. You may pre-register to speak at a virtual public meeting of the Metropolitan Council by emailing us at [email protected]. You may also email your comments, and we will respond to your comments in a timely manner.

The Metro Transit Police Work Group constitutes a quorum of the Community Development Committee and the Environment Committee, and therefore is publicly noticed as a special meeting of both committees.

    1. What are your top two or three priorities when approaching this police review?
    2. What do you want this work group to accomplish? What are your desired outcomes?
  2. Brief overview of Citizens League final report
    1. Work Group Chair Chamblis would ask Council Members to share their take-aways and identify topics that need to be incorporated into the work group’s work plan
  3. Identify topics for next Police Work Group meeting
  1. Possible topics for September 24, 2021 meeting include:
  2. Staff will prepare a draft calendar/work plan for work group’s review that would establish a plan for future meetings
  3. Staff can report back on the 8/27/21 request for information about how other transit agencies handle law enforcement and are reviewing their practices
