Existing Incinerator Renewal Design & Construction

In 2025, the existing incinerators will be 20 years old and in need of extensive renewal. Preliminary and final design will be complete in 2027 with construction occurring from 2028-2030. The renewal of the existing incinerators will be delivered through a traditional design bid build delivery method.

WHAT IS RENEWAL?

The added capacity from the fourth incinerator will allow the existing incinerators to be taken out of service for an extended period of time as they will be 20 years old and in need of extensive renewal work. Each incinerator train will need to be taken out of service for six months to one year at a time. Below is an animation which shows the sequence of taking one incinerator out of service to perform renewal work.

The estimated cost of the renewal is $30 million with construction starting in 2028.
