The Metropolitan Council has awarded $2.6 million in polluted-site cleanup grants to nine projects that promote redevelopment and economic opportunity in the region.

Four Livable Communities grants total $475,000 are from an account in the Livable Communities program that funds project feasibility studies, site planning, and community engagement work.

Officials have the opportunity to compare the data with their own knowledge and observations and collaborate with our staff to fine-tune and certify the estimates to meet state requirements.

Hundreds of metro area developments have received Livable Communities funding over the last 25 years to support local development investment.

The grants will fill project funding gaps and help create 557 new affordable homes and preserve another 113 affordable housing units.
