The annual budget workshops are hosted to share preliminary rate information with our 109+ customer communities, as well as to provide information on our capital program and our strategies for managing rate increases. Customer feedback from these forums is shared with the MCES General Manager and Executive Team.
The 2019 Workshop and Open Houses for the 2020 budget were held in Minnetonk and St Paul with MCES staff available to answer questions about the 2020 municipal wastewater charge and each community's allocation, the capital improvement program, and other topics.
The 2018 workshops introduced a new format: MCES staff experts were available to discuss various topics including the 2019 municipal wastewater charge and each community’s allocation, the capital improvement program, SAC, Inflow & Infiltration, water resources and monitoring, water supply, metering and collection systems, wastewater reuse as well as asset management.
At this forum, Environmental Services discussed insights into the budgeting process, the MCES governance process, capital spending, and the “why” behind MCES services and fees. All communities were invited to share primary customer concerns, and provide feedback on what MCES can do better.
The 2017 Budget Workshops were held on May 23, 2017 at Minnetonka City Hall and on June 8, 2017 at the League of Minnesota Cities. These workshops presented the drivers for the 2018 budgeting process, including information on debt service, Sewer Availability Charge, and the capital program. In addition, Environmental Services walked through the determination process for the Municipal Wastewater Charges (MWC) that were distributed to each community in May.
