Project Description
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (ES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, is improving facilities at the Metro Plant with the addition of a new Services Building using the design-build delivery method.
It will include a remodeled Analytical Laboratory, new office space, additional laboratory space, a field services facility, and access to the Metro Plant tunnel system.
The project will also add a second staffed entrance to the Metro Plant with a new guard station and parking lot. Construction on this project began in late 2022 and will take approximately two years to complete.

What to Expect
While we do our best to minimize impacts during construction, some temporary inconveniences may occur as the work takes place.
Public Impacts:
- Increased construction traffic to the Metro Plant

- Temporary road closure of North Perimeter Road

- Noise, vibrations, and dust
- Increased traffic within the plant including construction vehicles and construction staff
- Impacts to delivery of items to the Analytical Laboratory
