Rosemount Lift Station

Facility background

Built in 2008, Rosemount Lift Station 75 on Auburn Avenue collects wastewater from Rosemount and pumps it to the Empire Water Resource Recovery Facility. Changes in wastewater received at the lift station appear to have overwhelmed our existing odor control equipment and created occasional odors.

Working to minimize odors

Thank you to everyone who has alerted us to odors. Metropolitan Council is committed to being a good neighbor and keeping wastewater odors to a minimum.

We are taking these actions to minimize odors:
  • Operate odor control carbon filters and control systems
  • Evaluate air flows and odor levels
  • Implement a chemical injection pilot study to reduce odors
  • Investigate why wastewater upstream has changed and possible strategies to reduce odors at our lift station

Plans to do more

We are planning these additional actions:
  • Install a permanent chemical injection system pending pilot study
  • Evaluate other odor treatment technologies that can handle high strength wastewater
  • Continue monitoring and report results to the neighborhood yearly
