The Metropolitan Council, operator of the regional wastewater collection and treatment system, responded Wednesday morning, December 13, to a wastewater spill in Lino Lakes. A utility company accidentally damaged an interceptor sewer pipe in the Northeast corner of the intersection of Ash Street and Hodgson Road while performing underground construction. The damage resulted in a minor spill contained within the drainage ditch.

A prompt call from the utility company allowed crews from the Metropolitan Council’s Environmental Services division to stop the spill within minutes of receiving the call. Crews are in the process of cleaning up the spill. Cleaning the area and repairing the damaged infrastructure should be complete by the end of the day. Signage has been placed, warning the public “Do Not Enter/ Sewage Spill” around the affected drainage ditch. It will remain in place until the area is determined to be safe.
