Saint Bonifacius Wastewater Spill

The Metropolitan Council, operator of the regional wastewater collection and treatment system, responded Wednesday afternoon, September 20, to an air relief valve malfunction and resulting wastewater spill on the north side of Highway 7, approximately halfway between Upland Farm Road and Oak Road in Saint Bonifacius.

The Met Council has determined the wastewater spill from Sept. 20 no longer poses a risk to the public. Contractors hired by Met Council have removed all affected topsoil in the Saint Bonifacius spill area and hauled it to a landfill. They added new topsoil, graded and seeded it. Metropolitan Council Environmental Services crews will remove signage warning the public early next week.

Crews will repair the malfunctioning equipment once they receive the necessary components to make the repairs. Sewer service will not be interrupted during repairs.
