As the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Met Council distributes about $200 million every two years to projects that meet regional transportation needs.

The goal is to improve connections between the new bus rapid transit line and other bus routes.

Over the course of the 2020 construction season, project staff and our contractor encountered unforeseen conditions in Minneapolis that will take longer to overcome.

Staff across the Met Council have gone the extra mile over the past nine months in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Network Next has identified the top future bus rapid transit alignments for near-term implementation. We are now asking the community to rank the top alignments to help prioritize implementation.

The plan is a framework for how our region will support the ways people travel around the region as we plan for future growth and addresses trends that have emerged since the plan was last updated.

“It is time for this project to begin writing its next chapter. It is too important for the people served by this line to wait any longer,” he said.

The FFGA provides nearly $1 billion in federal funds as a match to more than $1 billion of local funding and clears the way for the completion of Minnesota’s largest ever public works project.
