The federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act allocated the funding to the Met Council to address transportation problems caused by the pandemic.

Members will help guide anti-displacement strategies and policy development by providing personal insight, local expertise and direct connections to communities impacted by the project.

The bus rapid transit line has received approval to enter the Project Development phase of the FTA's New Starts program. Project leadership now transitions from Ramsey County to the Met Council.

Comments on the report will be accepted through January 25, 2022 and will inform the final evaluation and route recommendation in spring 2022.

The project now moves into the detailed design phase, which will occur into 2022, with construction in 2023 and service anticipated to begin in 2024.

Achievement of this major milestone helps to clear the way for the transfer of the project from Ramsey County to the Metropolitan Council in late 2021 or early 2022.

This action to invest in anti-displacement is intended to support corridor residents, businesses, and equitable development in the corridor.

Among projects are an electric vehicle planning study and Metro Transit’s ongoing work to transition its fleet to electric vehicles.
