Metro Transit and project partners celebrated the start of construction on the METRO Gold Line, which will become the first bus rapid transit service in Minnesota to primarily use bus lanes.

The Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement will focus on potentially significant changes to the project based on the identification of the METRO Blue Line Extension recommended route.

Christine Beckwith will help guide the future of the Blue Line Extension as it moves towards the start of construction anticipated around 2025.

Project leaders can now move forward on this important transit project by continuing environmental, design, engineering, and anti-displacement activities.

Recommendation: extend the Blue Line from Target Field station along West Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis to County Road 81 in Crystal and Robbinsdale and along West Broadway Avenue in Brooklyn Park.

A notable share of the seven-county metro area’s permitted and planned development continues to be located within a 10-minute walk of transit corridors that offer high-frequency service.

The METRO Purple Line will provide bus rapid transit service to communities in the northeast metro. Apply by April 22.

If approved, the FTA Full Funding Grant Agreement would fund 45% of the project’s cost; 55% will come from Washington and Ramsey counties.
