The state’s first bus rapid transit line to operate primarily within bus-only lanes will connect Woodbury to downtown Saint Paul.

Community voices have played a crucial role in shaping the Blue Line Extension project to date and will continue to drive decisions as the project advances.

The extension is expected to bring total daily ridership on the METRO Blue Line to more than 30,000 by adding 11,500 to 13,000 daily rides.

Transit ridership grew 16% to 48.7 million rides in 2023, the second consecutive year of growth following a pandemic-driven drop, with average weekday ridership at 136,893.

Project staff are in the process of completing 30% design plans for the METRO Blue Line Extension project for community and city partner review this spring.
