Housing Assistance & Recent Vouchers

Current Housing Assistance

Unfortunately, the HRA does not have any housing assistance available at this time. The waiting list for a general housing choice voucher is closed. We are unsure when the waiting list will reopen.

Fall 2018 Vouchers

The additional vouchers the Council received from the federal government in fall 2018 are specifically designated for homeless, disabled persons using the transit system as temporary shelter. Metro Transit, operated by the Metropolitan Council, is working with social service providers to allocate these vouchers to individuals and families who meet the required qualifications. These vouchers are not available to the general public.

Additional Housing Resources

The best housing resource we can refer you to is HousingLink at www.housinglink.org. HousingLink is an affordable housing information website that tracks housing authorities with open waiting lists. Look for Subsidized Housing on the bottom left and click on Housing Authority Waiting List. There is also a feature at the top of the homepage entitled, “Where do you want to rent in MN?”. Here you can search for properties where you pay a percent of your income towards rent.

If you want to voice your concern regarding the shortage of affordable housing in the region, we suggest that you contact your local representatives and members of Congress.

If you have additional questions, please call 651.602.1880 and leave your name and phone number and an HRA team member will call you back.

Thank you for your interest in the HRA’s rent assistance programs.
