Thank you to everyone who engaged with us on this project in 2023! Your input is critical, and many important milestones were reached this past year with community voices at the forefront.

Skiers in the east metro can enjoy snow at Battle Creek Regional Park in a dry winter, thanks to snow machines funded by Ramsey County, State of Minnesota, The Parks and Trails Legacy Fund, and us.

This month, we approved grants that focus on affordable, safe housing in our region. Our homeownership and multifamily rental housing grants will result in new affordable homes and housing units. 

Our investment in cleaning up polluted land has resulted in the reuse of hundreds of acres. This month, we awarded $2.8 million to communities to continue brownfield cleanup work.

We’re taking on complex challenges and working in partnership with local governments, community groups, businesses, and residents to solve them.

The Met Council added five major road projects to planned transportation investments to help achieve these goals.

Our latest grant round of Livable Communities grants will contribute to projects in Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Edina, Maplewood, Minneapolis, and Saint Paul.

We awarded nearly $5 million in grants to Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Richfield to develop affordable housing and job opportunities along major transit routes.

O’Connor joins the Met Council from Ramsey County, where he has served as county manager since 2018.

The Free Fare Pilot program lets Metro Mobility riders use the regular route bus and rail system for free, while tech advancements are progressing to improve communications and online scheduling.

Met Council, local, state, and federal officials celebrated the new east metro bridge, which connects Oakdale and Woodbury and will have dedicated lanes for the Gold Line bus rapid transit corridor.

The new framework will build on current initiatives and align with the regional Transportation Policy Plan, which in turn is part of Imagine 2050, the Met Council’s regional development guide.
