The planned Louisiana Avenue Station will be located just north of Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, one of the region's largest medical centers. Thousands of people are employed in and around the hospital, and many more travel to and from the area each day. Light industrial and retail businesses are also located nearby. The combination of transit access and proximity to the hospital are expected to drive future redevelopment in the surrounding area.

Station design rendering

The design of the planned Louisiana Avenue Station locates the LRT platform off the berm that carries freight rail, to improve connections to the surrounding neighborhood.

The planned Louisiana Avenue Station includes park-and-ride lots along Oxford Street with a passenger drop-off and space for private shuttle services. Bus connections will be available on Louisiana Avenue. A new elevated freight rail connection will be constructed northeast of the station.

The Metropolitan Council created this narrated design visualization showing key elements of the METRO Green Line Extension in St. Louis Park. The visualization shows Louisiana Avenue Station and Wooddale Avenue Station, and illustrates features of the light rail stations, pedestrian facilities, and how light rail will operate along with street traffic.
