In response to the state's pandemic emergency, Metropolitan Council critical services continue to be available, though our facilities are closed to walk-in traffic and many staff are working remotely. Council public meetings are available for the public to follow remotely.

The planned reconfiguration of the SouthWest Station bus terminal combines LRT with the existing SouthWest Transit bus service and expands the park-and-ride facility, making this station a key hub for travelers to and from downtown Minneapolis. Shops and restaurants are located around the station. The surrounding area includes the 200-acre Purgatory Creek conservation area with a seven-acre park and walking trails.
