On the edge of downtown Minneapolis, the planned Royalston Avenue/Farmers Market Station will be within walking distance of the Minneapolis Farmers Market, Target Field and the Hennepin Theater District. The Minneapolis Community and Technical College and Metropolitan State University campuses are nearby. The surrounding area is a prime location for residential and commercial development with an industrial backdrop.

The planned Royalston Avenue/Farmers Market Station will be the first new station on the METRO Green Line Extension.
The station location is close to Metropolitan State University and Minneapolis Community and Technical College, as well as Target Field and the North Loop neighborhood.

The station location is close to the Minneapolis Farmers Market. West of the station, the Glenwood Avenue bridge over freight rail will be reconstructed. Light rail trains would cross Glenwood Avenue North at street level. North of the station, a new bridge will carry light rail trains into Target Field Station.
