The planned West Lake Street Station will be located in a bustling area of Minneapolis, near many shops and amenities as well as urban residential neighborhoods. The station area is within walking distance of Bde Maka Ska and the popular Midtown Greenway trail.

The planned West Lake Street Station will  be the westernmost of five new LRT stations in Minneapolis.
The location of West Lake Street Station is near popular residential and shopping areas, and within easy walking distance of Bde Maka Ska.

The planned West Lake Station will be located under the bridge that carries West Lake Street over the LRT and freight rail alignment. Stairs and elevators connecting the LRT station to the bridge are visible behind the station in the rendering above. Planned tree plantings in the foreground area are not shown.

Near the planned West Lake Street Station, West 31st Street will be reconfigured to provide a better connection to the station. East of West Lake Street, a new shallow LRT tunnel will keep light rail trains underground through a portion of the Kenilworth Corridor.

The Metropolitan Council created this narrated design visualization showing key elements of the METRO Green Line Extension in Minneapolis. The visualization shows West Lake Street Station and West 21st Street Station, and illustrates features of the light rail stations, pedestrian facilities, and how light rail will operate along with street traffic.
