Get Involved

Our region will grow and become increasingly diverse over the next 30 years. Our challenge is to maintain and enhance the region’s quality of life as we prepare for growth. Everyone has a stake in that goal.

Public Engagement Plan

People are experts in their own experiences, and that expertise is important. Thrive MSP 2040, the region’s long-range plan, establishes the goal to engage a full cross-section of the community in decision-making. Our public engagement plan outlines principles and processes to ground Met Council decisions in the needs of stakeholders and to effectively engage people in that decision-making process.

We encourage you to participate in the discussion and decision-making process. Here are resources and ways to learn more about what the Met Council does to support our region.

Attend events and meetings

All Met Council and advisory committee meetings are open to the public. You can help shape your community's future by attending meetings on land use, transit, or environmental issues. See Met Council and committee meetings, minutes and agendas.

Public input is welcome at meetings. It's best to comment on specific agenda items at the appropriate standing or advisory committee, rather than at meetings of the full Metropolitan Council. Time is reserved at the beginning of each full Council meeting for people to provide input on non-agenda items.

Contact your Council member

Council members welcome input from residents. Contact your Council member to share your opinions or concerns. A phone call, letter, or email can make difference. Find out how to contact your Council member.
