Reva Chamblis

Chamblis has wide-ranging experience in planning, organizing, and implementing community engagement projects and organizations. She was a human rights commissioner for the City of Brooklyn Park from 2013 to 2016. She served as consultant for engaging underrepresented residents in Brooklyn Park and other northeast Hennepin County cities in planning for the METRO Blue Line extension project, and is founder and president of Northwest Community Building.

Biography

Reva Chamblis lives in Brooklyn Park and represents District 2. The district includes, in Anoka County, the cities of Columbia Heights, Fridley, Hilltop, and Spring Lake Park, and in Hennepin County, the cities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, and Osseo.

Chamblis has wide-ranging experience in planning, organizing, and implementing community engagement projects and organizations. She was a human rights commissioner for the City of Brooklyn Park from 2013 to 2016. She served as consultant for engaging underrepresented residents in Brooklyn Park and other northeast Hennepin County cities in planning for the METRO Blue Line extension project (light rail), receiving the 2016 Rosa Parks “Diversity Award.” As founder and president of Northwest Community Building, she has worked with organizations and projects to boost voter education and civic engagement and initiatives to build community and cross-cultural connections.

My community engagement work with the planned Blue Line LRT extension confirmed for me that well planned and supportive transportation is crucial for local communities and economic growth. Just as important is keeping community members involved and engaged in the process.”

Chamblis has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and post-graduate certificates from the University of St. Thomas.
