Biography

Victor Obisakin is the legislative and community relations director at Restoration for All Inc. He brings to the Met Council a passion for mental health and social justice, and a unique perspective drawn from his experience in both public service and business operations. He has held various positions, ranging from a firefighter to an executive chef. Growing up, he lived in Nigeria, Brazil, and Israel. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management, and lived in northwest Minnesota for 20 years before moving back to the metro region.

Obisakin’s strong interest in the mental health of BIPOC communities and the disparities they experience led him to earn a master’s degree in public administration.  He joined the Community Equity Program at the Amherst Wilder Foundation and the Boards & Commissions Leadership Institute at Nexus Community Partners, with the goal of becoming more involved in advocacy, state legislative policy, and community change. He has joined the New American Leaders Program and is also a member of the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage and the Governor's Community Council on Inclusion and Equity.
