Biography
Robert Lilligren brings a wealth of housing, transportation, and community-driven development expertise to the Met Council. He’s been committed to equity, inclusive decision-making, and collaboration during his extensive record of public service, including 12 years as Minneapolis City Council Vice President and as a leader with various city commissions.
As the first Tribal member on the Met Council and CEO of the Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI), Lilligren is deeply committed to equity-centered regional growth. His previous work as CEO of Little Earth United Tribes and his background as a housing developer and contractor further solidify his community development expertise.
Lilligren’s education, including at the University of Minnesota, Macalester College, and Harvard University, highlights his dedication to leadership and lifelong learning. He and his husband, Steve, currently reside in the Loring Heights Neighborhood of Minneapolis.
