The METRO Blue Line Extension’s Project Decision Board has approved a design change to Lowry Avenue station based on stakeholder and community feedback.

The Lowry Avenue station will be an important stop on the Blue Line Extension (BLE).

This week the cities of Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and Hennepin County voted to approve Preliminary Design Plans for the Blue Line Extension.

After a month of discussion and deliberation the community members who participated in DREAMNorth have laid out their vision of how the Blue Line Extension can benefit North Minneapolis

Hennepin County and the four cities on the route of the proposed METRO Blue Line Extension are being asked to review the preliminary design plans of the light rail transit project.   

Light rail will provide fast and convenient transit in this corridor. In some cases, travel times can even be comparable to driving in your own car.

Ensuring the METRO Blue Line Extension serves and benefits people and businesses in the corridor today and for decades to come is a top priority for project partners and staff.

The Federal Transit Administration has awarded $700,000 to the Metropolitan Council for station area planning for the Blue Line Extension in Minneapolis.

In summer 2024, cities along the METRO Blue Line Extension route will start the process known as "municipal consent."
