Biography

Wendy Wulff has served on the Metropolitan Council since April 2009. She lives in Lakeville with her husband and represents District 16: in Dakota County, the cities of Burnsville, Empire, Farmington, and Lakeville; and the townships of Castle Rock, Eureka, Greenvale, Sciota, and Waterford; and in Scott County, the city of Savage.

Wulff’s passion for public service dates back to her enlistment with the U.S. Army Reserve, serving later on the Lakeville City Council and Lakeville Planning Commission and on the board of the League of Minnesota Cities. She has long experience with and expertise in local government and knows well the value of collaboration and establishing partnerships to get things done.

“I’m especially proud of work I’ve done with the Council’s Environmental Services staff, area businesses and local officials to assess and address concerns about a sewer connection fee that helps pay for the wastewater treatment system. It’s a financing tool that’s fair, but complicated, so we simplified and did some fine-tuning and made the fee more customer friendly for our business customers.”

Wulff says it’s this kind of problem-solving and cooperative spirit among stakeholders that she finds both challenging and enjoyable about her service on the Council, and prompted her to reapply for another term; this time in the Walz Administration to support the One Minnesota vision.

“I wholeheartedly believe in the mission of the Metropolitan Council to promote efficiency and the best value in our regional services, which include wastewater, transportation and regional parks. I see our role as helping to ensure that the Twin Cities metro area remains economically competitive, attractive to employers and employees, promotes prosperity and opportunities within our communities, and retains its status as one of the best places in the country to live and work.”

In addition to her local government activities, Wulff also served on the Metropolitan Council’s Land Use Advisory Committee and Transportation Advisory Board, the Municipal Legislative Commission and the Minnesota Women in City Government Board.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology and is the mother of three sons.
